Baltimore City Public Schools To Honor
Raven Ed Mulitalo's Band Foundation

Baltimore Raven Edwin Mulitalo and the Big Ed's Band Foundation
received special recognition from the Baltimore City Board of
Commissioners at the board meeting on December 14, 2004
at 5:15 PM at the Dr. Alice G. Pinderhughes Administration
Building. Founded in 2002, the Foundation has raised
approximately $50,000 in funds and instrument donations to support
it's mission:
"To develop the gift of music in our children by supporting the
growth and development of instrumental music through providing
instruments, repair, and other musical support for Baltimore
schools."
The Foundation has identified several schools to partner with
specifically, including Frederick Douglass HS, and is in the
process of awarding new and used musical instruments to eleven
other Baltimore City schools through a grant application process.
"Music has always been a part of my family," said Mulitalo, who
plays the trombone, harmonica and the ukelele. "Everyone in the
family always played some type of instrument." But when school
budgets are cut, he says, "the first thing that goes ... is the
arts program. The foundation was set up directly to help these
struggling programs."
Community businesses that have contributed to the Foundation
include Jiffy Lube, Rosso Music, Best Buy, the
Baltimore Ravens Nests, ToadNet, Inc., 98 Rock, East Coast
Marketing, Ravens24x7.com, Baltimore Marching Ravens and Towson
Limousine Company.
